Every Filipino Deserves Safe Sidewalks
Imagine a Philippines where children can safely walk to school.
Imagine grandparents taking morning walks without fearing speeding vehicles.
Imagine families enjoying evenings together on tree-lined sidewalks.
Imagine runners, commuters, and persons with disabilities moving safely through our cities.
Now ask yourself:
Why can't we have that?
For millions of Filipinos, walking has become dangerous.
Our sidewalks are often too narrow, broken, blocked by parked vehicles, occupied by vendors, or simply nonexistent. Every day, ordinary Filipinos are forced onto busy roads because there is no safe place to walk.
This is not just inconvenient.
It costs lives.
Countries like Japan have shown that cities designed for people—not just cars—are healthier, cleaner, safer, and happier. Walking is part of everyday life because sidewalks are wide, continuous, accessible, and respected.
The Philippines deserves the same.
Walking should never be considered a luxury.
It is a basic human right.
We are not asking for extravagant projects.
We are asking for something simple:
A safe place to walk.
A child should never risk being hit by a vehicle just to get to school.
An elderly person should never fear crossing a street.
A runner should not have to train on the shoulder of a highway.
A person using a wheelchair should not be forced into traffic because a sidewalk is blocked.
Every Filipino deserves streets that protect life before traffic.
We call upon the Philippine Government to launch a nationwide Safe Sidewalk Program that will:
• Build wider sidewalks.
• Remove illegal obstructions.
• Protect pedestrians.
• Plant shade trees.
• Improve pedestrian crossings.
• Connect neighborhoods through walkable streets.
• Make every future road project include world-class sidewalks.
When we invest in walking, we invest in healthier people, cleaner air, safer communities, stronger local businesses, and a better future.
One signature may seem small.
But millions of footsteps can change a nation.
If you believe every Filipino deserves safe streets, please sign this petition and share it with your family and friends.
Together, let's build a Philippines made for people.
Walk More. Ride Less. Live Best.
